The Senators and Sea Dogs meet for the first and only time in the 2026 baseball season. Portland comes into the series in a dead heat with Reading for first place in the Northeast Division standings. The Sea Dogs will give the ball to Hayden Mullins. The left hander is the Boston Red Sox # 15 overall prospect. Mullins makes his 4th start for the Sea Dogs after a brief call up for 1 game to AAA Worcester. Mullins has not won a game since the end of May but he’s also only lost 1 start since he lost his first start of the year in early April. In the month of July he’s pitched 13 1/3 innings allowing 8 runs on 11 hits, walking 9 and striking out 14.

The Senators will counter with Riley Maddox who is fresh off winning his first two starts in a Senators uniform. His first appearance was out of the bullpen. Maddox has been fantastic thus far in AA and in the month of July he's pitched 17 innings, allowing 6 runs on 14 hits (2 HR), walking 4 and striking out 12.

Last week’s series against the Reading Fightin’ Phils looked extremely promising as of Friday night. The Sens held a 3 games to 1 series lead and were outscoring the visitors 26-6 in the 4 games played. As is often the case in baseball, things changed in a hurry for the home team. The Sens made a ferocious rally in Game 5 on Saturday night that fell just short leaving the bases loaded to end the game. On Sunday, Washington Nationals #16 overall prospect Yoel Tejeda Jr made his first AA start. The numbers weren’t flashy but he was really only hurt by the 3 run home run Bryan Rincon hurt. The Sens had their chances and made the game 3-2 in the 4th. Kyle Luckham would come into the game in the 6th in relief of Tejeda Jr and give up 3 runs on 6 hits and striking out 3. Six Senators players had a hit each to account for the offense.

The Harrisburg Senators and Portland Sea Dogs play game 2 of their 6 games series tomorrow afternoon, Wednesday, July 29th. Matinee baseball in Portland. The Sens will hand the ball to Issac Lyon, who looks to stay on roll of late. Lyon has won 4 of his last 6 starts and has been pitching tremendously well for the Sens. Portland has not yet named a starter for tomorrow afternoon’s game.
